We routinely find ourselves juggling plates, glasses and dishes of food when we want to eat out on the deck or in screen house. I wanted a tray to carry things, but I never got around to looking for one.
Then, a week or so ago, a friend offered us a wooden wine box she didn't have any use for. I almost passed on it, thinking we also didn't need a shallow box for anything, but then an idea popped in my head: The box could become the tray we wanted.
This was one of our quickest and easiest reclaimed-material projects. I sanded and stained the wine box. Then we came across two handles leftover from the fire-pit box project and screwed them in place.
Voila! We now have a tray, without spending a penny. Sometimes, you really do have to think outside the box.
